Artifact: Instructional Design Document for a Scientific Literacy Course for Freshman STEM Majors
Context: This Instructional Design Document for a Scientific Literacy Course for Freshman STEM
Majors was created to fulfill the requirements of the course LT7100 – Design of Performance and
Instructional Systems. This artifact was chosen because the final product demonstrates my
knowledge and understanding of instructional systems design, learner characteristics, and
applying models, principles, and theories.
Conditions: The Morehouse Scientific Literacy Center was in need of a formal design document
to help guide development of interactive online instruction and support material to be used for
their summer program for HS students and fall course for Freshman STEM majors. The final
document was forwarded to the Instructor for use in the classroom.
Scope: The systematic design process (ADDIE) was used to help the instructor with setting
objectives, performing a learner analysis, identifying entry behaviors, developing instructional
strategies, assessments (formative and summative) and evaluations.
